Sikkim Darjeeling Trek

Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi
You will be met upon your arrival and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 2 Delhi - Bagdogra by plane – Darjeeling by car
When you arrive at the Bagdogra airport you will be transferred to Darjeeling by car. A charming 4-
hour journey through Assam tea plantations and tiny villages takes us to Darjeeling. Built on top of a
ridge, Darjeeling faces the Himalaya and is a popular destination. Overnight in your hotel in
Darjeeling.

Day 3. Darjeeling.
Take an early morning trip to Tiger Hill to see the sunrise over the Himalayas. Afterward you can
visit the famous Ghoom Monastery that enshrines an image of the Maitreya Buddha (the coming
Buddha). Later on we can visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and tea plantations.
Overnight is in Darjeeling.

Day 4: Darjeeling – Manay Bhanjang by car – Tonglu
Early this morning you will be driven from Darjeeling to Manay Bhanjang. From Manay Bhanjant,
you will hike the trail to Tonglu which overlooks the Bengali plains, and where you have tantalising
glimpses of Kanchenjunga ahead. Overnight in Tonglu

Day 5: Tonglu – Garibas
We continue along the trail that snakes through a succession of forests and hamlets finally giving way
to spectacular mountain sceneries. Overnight in Garibas.

Day 6: Garibas – Sandakphu
We steadily climb to join the ridge trail towards Kalpokhari. Afterward, we start a long and steep
climb onto the Singalila ridge that leads us to Sandakphu. A remarkable 360 ° view of the Himalayas
can be had from the top. Overnight in Sandakphu.

Day 7: Sandakphu – Phalut
We walk to a prominent viewpoint for a magnificent sunrise over the Kanchenjunga, Jannu, Everest,
Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyo range. Throughout the day, there are ever-changing views: yak herds,
silvery pine forests, tiny lakes ringed with grass, and the snow-capped Himalayan range in the
background. Overnight in Phalut.

Day 8: Phalut – Raman
A pleasant descent through the woods takes us to Gorkhey and then we climb up towards Raman.
Overnight in Raman.

Day 9: Raman – Rimbik
We pass through numerous villages and cross the Sri Khola over a remarkable suspension bridge to
Rimbik. You will stay overnight in Rimbik.

Day 10: Rimbik – Pelling by car. After your hike to Rimbik you will be met and driven to Pelling.
Overnight is in Pelling.

Day 11: Pelling – Pemayangtse – Yuksam by car.
2.5 km from Pelling, we will visit the Pemayangtse monastery. Perched at 2800m, it is one of the
oldest and most impressive gompas in Sikkim. You will stay overnight in Yuksam.

Day 12: Yuksam – Tashiding - Martam by car.
From Yuksam you will head toward Tashiding en route visiting the Tashiding Monastery, one of the
most isolated in Sikkim, perched on the top of a hill set between two rivers. Later, you will be taken
to the village of Martam where you will stay for the night.

Day 13: Martam – Gangtok by car.
Today you will visit Rumtek monastery, renowned for its religious Tibetan art. Visitors are welcome
to attend prayers. You will stay overnight in Gangtok.

Day 14: Gangtok.
Here you will enjoy a visit to the amazing Orchid Sanctuary where you can see a few of the 454
orchid species listed in Sikkim. To complete the day you will visit the Enchey and Do Drul
monasteries, and the Tibetology Institute which houses one of the richest collections of thankas and
religious works in the world. Overnight is in Gangtok.

Day 15: Gangtok – Bagdogra (by car) – Delhi (by plane).
After being driver to Bagdogra you will board your plane for your flight to Delhi. When you arrive in
Delhi you will be met by our agent and taken to your hotel where you will stay for the night.

Day 16: Delhi
You are free to spend the day as you wish. Overnight is in your hotel in Delhi.

Day 17: Delhi
You will be taken to either the airport or train station for your onward journey. Tour ends.
