| Itinerary Day 1: Delhi Upon arrival our representative will greet you and assist you to your hotel. Overnight stay in your hotel in Delhi. Day 2: Delhi - Jaipur After breakfast we will depart by car to Jaipur en route visiting Amber Fort on the way , a spectacular fortress-palace protecting a complex of palaces, temples, exquisite marble and mirror-inlaid halls and apartments. If you wish, you can ride an elephant up the hill at the Fort like a maharaja or maharani. Evening is free to spend as you wish. Overnight is in our hotel in Jaipur. Day 3: Jaipur This morning after breakfast, we embark on an exploration of the "Pink City," so-called because a great deal of the older part of the city was built of pink stucco and painted pink in honor of a visiting dignitary. Visit the Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace), an intricately carved wall behind which women of the court were sequestered while watching processions. Also see the Observatory and the City Palace, which houses an excellent collection of Rajasthani costumes, miniatures and an armory of Rajput weapons. Enjoy lunch at a local Rajasthani restaurant and see the largest turban museum in Rajasthan. Overnight is at your hotel in Jaipur. Day 4: Jaipur - Agra This morning, you will travel to Agra. Along the way you will stop at the walled city of Fatehpur Sikri, built by Akbar the Great to commemorate the birth of his son but later deserted when water dried up. Upon arrival in Agra, we will check in to our hotel for the evening. Overnight at our hotel. Day 5: Agra Agra is famous for being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World - The Taj Mahal. The architectural splendor of the mausoleums, the fort and the palaces is a vivid reminder of the opulence of the legendary Moghul Empire of which Agra was the capital in the 16th and early 17th centuries. We will also make time to see the 16th century Agra Fort which houses a number of exquisite buildings: the Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque), Diwane-I-Am (Palace for General Audience), Diwane-I-Khas (private palace), Anguri Bagh (vineyard), Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), and the Musamman Bhurj (Jasmine Tower) where Shah Jahan died as a prisoner of his own son. After lunch we will drive back to Delhi. Day 6: New Delhi This morning, your guide will take you on a combined tour of Old & New Delhi. Overnight is at your hotel in Delhi. Day 7: Delhi Today you will be taken to the railway station or airport for your onward journey. Tour ends. |
