Camping in India

Camp Thangdhar is situated at 8,500 ft in the Mussorie Hills just 15 km from Dhanaulti and 14 km
from Chamba. Set amidst the tranquil wooded slopes of deodar, pine, oak and rhododendron trees,
the camp site affords picturesque 180 degree views of the snow clad Garhwal Himalayas.

Getting to Camp Thangdhar
By Road : 300 km from New Delhi via Rishikesh. Driving time is about 7-8 hrs depending on traffic
conditions.
By Train: The train only goes as far as Haridwar. From Haridwar, it is an additional 100 km by car.
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun-Rishikesh Route. From Rishikesh it is another 90 km by road.

Accommodations and Activities
You will be staying in deluxe tents with attached toilets. Activities at the camp include trekking,
rappelling, rock climbing,nature walks, bonfires and picnic lunches in the forests.

Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit is from the end of March to about the first week of November.

Places of Interest
Surkhanda Devi Temple : Located at an elevation of 10,000 ft., it has spectacular views.
Dhanaulti: A secluded hill station where long walks in the surrounding forest shouldn't be missed.
Tehri Dam: 35 km from our camp site, Tehri Dam Reservoir is worth visiting.
Kaudia: A day-picnic can be organized here in the dense forest.
